BARBARA JEAN RACHUY, age 79, of Lakefield, formerly of Worthington, died Monday, January 5, 2009, at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield. She was born May 5, 1929, in rural Fulda, to Patrick and Elsie (Christensen) O?Neil. Jean married William F. Rachuy on November 14, 1946, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in the Reading area. In 1972, they moved to Worthington where Jean worked at Campbell?s Soup Company for over seventeen years before retiring. She became a resident of the Colonial Manor Nursing Home, in Lakefield, on August 25, 2005. She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. She enjoyed playing cards, fishing, especially at the Lake of the Woods, casinos, bowling & spending time with friends & family. Jean is survived by her eight children and their spouses, Garry & Jan Rachuy, LeMars, IA; Ron & Jean Rachuy, Mitchell, SD; Ken & Joy Rachuy, Fairmont; Brad & Wendy Rachuy, Worthington; Bill & Peggy Rachuy, Fulda; Cheryl & Cliff Anderson, Cedar; Linda & Roger Kluever, Worthington; and Sheila Abels, Fulda; thirteen grandchildren; five great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice DeGroot, Worthington; and Delores (Elgie) Rachuy, Avoca; brother, Frank (Shirley) O?Neil, Worthington; and a sister-in-law, Louise O?Neil, Worthington. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William, in 1981; two infant children; and two brothers, Darrell ?Shorty? & Donald ?Doc? O?Neil; and one brother-in-law, Harm DeGroot.
