Delvin "Del" Edward Domagala

March 18, 1938 ~ December 19, 2017 (age 79) 79 Years Old

   DELVIN EDWARD DOMAGALA, age 79, of Luverne, died Tuesday, December 19, 2017, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage. He was born March 18, 1938, on a farm near Lake Preston, SD, to Edward and Ruby (Pederson) Domagala. He lived there for four years and then moved to the Domagala homestead near Erwin, SD. Del attended country school during his grade school years before moving to Bryant, SD where he graduated from high school. After high school, he farmed the Domagala homestead for eight years.

   Del married Eileen Greene on September 7, 1957, in DeSmet, SD and the couple was blessed with six children. In 1964, the family moved to Madison, SD where Del worked  for the city of Madison in the waste water treatment plant.  He also worked for a plumbing and heating company in Madison.  In the fall of 1972, they moved to Luverne where they remained for the remainder of their lives. Del worked for the city of Luverne in the water and wastewater treatment plants. He retired from there in 2000. He then worked part time for the city of Ellsworth.

   He was a member of St. Catherine Catholic Church in Luverne where he was very active in the Knights of Columbus and was a Faithfull Navigator of the 4th Degree. Del was active in many community organizations during his life, including the Minnesota and Southwest Minnesota Wastewater Operators Association, the Luverne Optimist Club, the Minnesota Pollution Control Association and the Luverne Hockey Club Building Committee. He enjoyed spending many hours at the arena watching his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren play hockey.

   Del is survived by his wife, Eileen Domagala, Luverne; six children, Faye (Gordon) Bremer, Luverne; Doug Domagala, Hills; Larry Domagala, Luverne; Sharon Kessler, Luverne; Wayne Domagala, Luverne;  Geni Domagala, Brandon, SD;Gary Domagala, Brandon, SD; eleven grandchildren, Kelly (Nick) Cleveringa, Whitney (Jesse) Lafrenz, Savanna (Eric) Teune, Nicholas (Amy) Domagala, Nathan (Alyssa) Domagala, Natalie (friend, Rachel) Domagala, Angela (Jason) Clark, Sara (Brad) Whipple, Sadie Kessler, Logan Domagala and Dalton Domagala; twelve great-grandchildren, Mason, Max, Braxton, Ava, Brystol, Elliot, Maddux, Mallachi, Willow, Archer, Berkley and Zane; and three sisters-in-law, Rita Domagala, Adrian; Jan Domagala, Cottage Grove; and Beverly (Vinal) Christopherson, Paynesville.

   He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter-in-law, Merecie Domagala in 2017; infant sister, Faye,  two brothers, Lyle and Leroy Domagala; and two sisters, Rose Gustafson and Geneva Ladwig.

   Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, with parish prayers at 7 pm. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10:30 am at St. Catherine Catholic Church, in Luverne, officiated by Fr. Thomas Jennings. Burial will be in the St. Catherine Cemetery in Luverne.

   In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the Hospice Cottage in Luverne.
