Dorothy Mae Funk, age 85, of Worthington, died on Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at Sanford USD Medical Center in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born June 9, 1931 in Holland, MN; to parents Ed and Clara (Miller) Van Dyke. When Dorothy was five years old the family moved to Worthington where Dorothy attended school.

   She was united in marriage to Edwin (Eddie) Funk on May 24, 1949 in Worthington. Dorothy worked at Fauskee’s Nursing Home and later worked at Worthington State Bank. She moved to Texas in 1973 and to Minneapolis in 1975 and she worked at various banks. Dorothy returned to Worthington in 1989 and worked for Sathers Candy Company in Round Lake until she retired.

    Dorothy was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, visiting with neighbors and visits from her Pastor.

   She is survived by her three children, Gloria (Ivan) Kruger, Minnetonka, MN; David (Robyn) Funk, Worthington, MN; and Nancy Ahlers, Worthington, MN; seven Grandchildren, fifteen Great Grandchildren; and a brother Clarence Van Dyke, Lakeside, CA.

   Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, husband Eddie in 1970, daughter, Sandy Edwards and four brothers.

A private graveside service will be at a later date at the Worthington Cemetery officiated  by Pastor Mark Schreiber. The Dingmann Funeral Home of Worthington will be in charge of arrangements.
