EDWARD (EDDIE) DANIEL POPPEN, age 56, of Worthington, died Tuesday, August 22, 2017, at his home in Worthington. He was born August 26, 1960 in Worthington to Douglas and Leona (Stoffer) Poppen. He attended school in Worthington graduating in 1978 from Worthington High School. He then attended Bemidji State College for one year.
Eddie was united in marriage to Gail Baumgartner on February 22, 1985 in Worthington, MN. To this union three children were born. In 1980 he returned to Worthington and worked as a supervisor at Hardees. In 1985 he began working as a manager at Dairy Queen and worked there for 10 years. In 1995, he worked at Worthington Travel Plaza as a General Manager until 2003. He later moved to St. Charles for five years and in 2012 he moved back to Worthington.
Eddie was baptized and confirmed at American Lutheran Church in Worthington. He was an avid fan of the Minnesota Vikings and NASCAR. He also had a huge collection of coins, model planes, hot wheels and loved woodworking and enjoyed family vacations.
Eddie is survived by his children, Aaron E. Poppen, Worthington, MN; Anthony (Tosha) Poppen, Worthington, MN; Adrienne Poppen, Savage, MN; two grandchildren Quin Mathis and Ganon Poppen; his mother Leona Poppen-Millard, St. Charles, MN; sisters, Janette (Todd) Bever, Bloomington, IL; and Terry (Scott) Lambert, Rochester, MN; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father Douglas, a sister Sheryl and a niece Kristi.
Visitation will be Thursday from 5 PM - 7 PM at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington and will continue on Friday from 10 AM - 11 AM at the Funeral Home, with a service following at 11 AM, at Dingmann Funeral Home Worthington, officiated by Bailey Fossom. Burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery. The Dingmann Funeral Home of Worthington will be in charge of arrangements.
