JEAN JOYCE KINGERY, age 92, of Sioux Falls, formerly of Worthington, Minnesota, died Sunday, December 10, 2017 at Avera-McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. Jean was born December 11, 1924, in Sibley, Iowa; she was the daughter of John J. & Grace (Sietsema) Miller. Jean grew up in Ransom Township, attended Bigelow School until 1938, and graduated from Worthington High School in 1942. She completed the one-year business course from Worthington Junior College in 1943, and was employed with Production Credit Association for four years & then for the Nobles County Auditor’s Office for two years.

Jean married Kenneth Kingery on January 22, 1950 at the Westminster Presbyterian Church in Worthington. After their marriage, they lived on a farm in Ransom Township until 1958, and then the couple moved on an acreage south of Worthington. In 1964, they moved to a farm northwest of Worthington and in 1980, moved into Worthington. Jean was employed at the Nobles County Auditor’s office from 1964 until 1984.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Worthington where she helped with Sunday school & church school early in her marriage and later was an active member of the United Methodist Women.

Jean is survived by one son John C. (Terrie) Kingery, Reading, MA; two daughters, Ann E. (David) Schlomann, Two Harbors, MN; and Paula K. Seep & her fiancé Stan Mellegard, Sioux Falls, SD; Eight grandchildren, Michelle Sykes, Maureen Kingery and Melissa Kingery all of Massachusetts, Michael (Lisa) Kingery, Durham, NC; Jack (Jennifer) Petersen, Brookings, SD; James (Debbra) Petersen, New Ulm, MN; Jeremy (Inez) Petersen, GA; & Erin Seep, Vermillion SD; five great-grandchildren Cameron Kingery, Dylan Sykes, David, Alexis & Katelyn Petersen, one sister Mary Kay Magee, Worthington, MN; a brother-in-law Mike (Janet) Kingery of Willmar, MN; nieces & nephews, and David’s children Jay Schlomann, Elysian, MN; Katie (Clint) Meyer, Worthington, MN; & Karie (Brett) Covert & grandchildren Carter, Madison & Noah Schlomann, Caleb and Evan Meyer, Grace and Dayne Covert.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents and husband Kenneth Kingery.

Visitation will be Saturday, December 16 from 12:30 to 1:30 P.M. followed by the Memorial Service at 1:30 P.M. at the First United Methodist Church in Worthington. Rev. Dr. Daren Flinck will officiate. A private burial of the cremains will be at the Worthington Cemetery. The Dingmann Funeral Home of Worthington will be in charge of arrangements.
