JOAN HAZEL MULDER, age 92, of Worthington, formerly of Rushmore, died Saturday, December 16, 2017, at the Meadows in Worthington. She was born January 15, 1925, in Luverne, to Ernest and Hazel (Norton) Stearns. Joan graduated from Luverne High School. She then worked as a assistant to the Rock County Auditor.
Joan married Emery Mulder on November 23, 1945, at the First Baptist Church in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple moved to a farm east of Rushmore where they farmed and raised their family. They were married for sixty eight years. Joan and Emery loved the farm life, so they continued to live on the farm after they retired. They moved to the Meadows on January 28, 2013.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Luverne, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and sang duets with her husband. They also sang together for numerous weddings and special occasions. She enjoyed music, baking and spending time with her family.
Joan is survived by her eleven, Tom (Linda) Mulder, Osakis, MN; Mark (Sharon) Mulder, Union Grove, WS; Eunice (Randy) White, Crooks, SD; Lois Bridges, Scotts Bluff, NE; Jim (Wendy) Mulder, Diamond, MO; Avis (John) Hilger, Lincoln, NE; Robert (Tammy) Mulder, Bailey, Co; Deborah (Randy) Rohwer, Stacey, MN; Kurt (Jody) Mulder, Rushmore; Warren Mulder, Rushmore; Wade (Angie) Mulder, Sioux Falls, SD; daughter-in-law, LeAnn Mulder, Wilmont; son-in-law, Gene Holtorf, Palmer, KS; forty grandchildren, seventy two great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; seven brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Joyce Rust Hoveland, Betty Lou Mulder; Kenneth (Elaine) Mulder; Gerald (Verna) Mulder; Beverly Greeley; LaDonne Christians; John Jr. (Jean) Mulder; Burnell (Lois) Mulder; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Emery on March 17, 2014; a daughter, Marcellyn Holtorf in 2014; daughter-in-law, Nancy in 2012; brother, Joel; and an infant brother, Guy.
Visitation will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at the First Baptist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Walt Moser. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
