MARIAN LUNDERGARD, age 91, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully in her sleep Monday, March 26, 2018, at the Good Samaritan - Luther Manor Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born an only child to Lloyd and Ruth (Kopp) Martin, on April 26, 1926.
Marian married Robert D. Lundergard on January 12, 1946. She briefly taught country school and then became a homemaker. Together, Marian and Robert farmed and raised three children. In 1965, the family moved to Rushmore. In 1967, they moved to Worthington.
She was a wonderful cook and baker, especially pie. She loved to garden, can and preserve produce, read and watch soap operas. Marian’s most cherished work was being a mom and grandma. The couple loved to travel to Branson, MO, go on fishing trips and spend time with family and friends. They were blessed with sixty six years of marriage.
Marian is survived by her son, Robert (Linda) Lundergard, Worthington; two daughters, Linda (Gary) Parker, Montgomery, MN; and Sherry (Dewey) Buhr, Sioux Falls, SD; nine grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many nieces & nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert on January 23, 2012; and an infant great-granddaughter.
The family wishes to thank the Avera Hospice staff and Luther Manor nurses and staff for the quality care, compassion and friendship to our Mom these past months and years.
Funeral will be at 1pm Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Galen Smith, with a visitation one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Thursday. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
