Welcome to the memorial page for

Mary Ann (Rosenboom) Eernisse

December 22, 1952 ~ May 8, 2017 (age 64) 64 Years Old

MARY ANN EERNISSE, age 64, of Leota, died Monday, May 8, 2017, at her home.  She was born on December 22, 1952 to Manual and Helen (Von Busch) Rosenboom, in Worthington, MN.  She was born and raised on a farm by Rushmore, MN.  Mary graduated in 1970 from Worthington High School and obtained her CNA license after graduation.

Mary married Steve Eernisse in 1980.  The couple lived in Leota MN where they remained until the present time.  After having children, Mary went back to school and graduated in 1993 with her LPN license.  During her years as a nurse, she worked at the Veterans Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD, Sioux Valley Hospice, and many years at the Minnesota Veterans Home in Luverne MN.  She retired from work at the Veterans home in 2015, due to the progression of her illness.  Other than her family, Mary kept busy with many activities inspired by her abundant creativity.  She loved to learn and try new things.  She was an expert at sewing, dabbled in pottery, painted many canvases, created beautiful stained glass pieces, and loved to refurbish old treasures that she would spot antiquing.  Mary’s yard was always blooming with beautiful flower gardens and she even got the “old boys” at the Veterans Home involved when she created a memorial garden there.

She was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota.  Mary loved her family and her grandkids were her joy.  She had such patience with the grandchildren and shared her stories, talents, and faith with each of them.

Mary is survived by her husband, Steve Eernisse, Leota; daughters, Carrie (Tony) Schumacher, Waconia; Jennifer (Ross) Brands, Edgerton; and son, Joshua (Nicole) Eernisse, Lino Lakes; grandchildren, Evan and Lane Schumacher; Kylee, Jayden, and Lucas Brands; Allen Eernisse,  brother, Paul (Jeanie) Rosenboom, Worthington; and niece, Sara Rosenboom.

She was preceded in death by her parents and infant sister, Carolee.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm Wednesday at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Funeral will be 10:30 am Thursday at the Bethel Reformed Church. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
