MARY HARSMA, age 96 of Kingman, AZ, formerly of Worthington, died Monday, September 11, 2017 at Cerbat Guest Home in Kingman, AZ. She was born October 17, 1920 near Adrian, to Jake and Geessien (Dammer) Aning. Mary attended rural school. After her schooling, she remained on the family farm.
Mary married Reynold J. Harsma on April 15, 1939, in Sibley, IA; and celebrated sixty five years of marriage. They lived in the Fulda area before moving to Worthington in the early 1940’s. Mary had worked at the Oxford Motel in Worthington.
She was a member of the Worthington Christian Church. Mary enjoyed gardening, watching the Minnesota Vikings and she loved her family and all her friends and neighbors.
Mary is survived by her four sons, Reynold (Shirley) Harsma Jr., Yorba Linda, CA; Robert Harsma, Placentia, CA; Gene (Elaine) Harsma, Corona, CA; and Larry (Mary) Harsma, Kingman, AZ; twelve grandchildren; twenty four great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and a sister-in-law, Gert Aning, Luverne.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Reynold J. Harsma on May 20, 2004; an infant great granddaughter, Ava Jean Smith; three brothers, Menno, Sievert and Ben Aning; four sisters, Gertie Drenth, Dena Tholen, Jennie Wibben and Pearl Aning; and an infant sister.
Funeral will be 11 am Thursday, September 21st at the Worthington Christian Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Doug White. Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 am Thursday at the church. Burial will be in the Garden of Memories Cemetery in Worthington.
