PRISCILLA (VELDKAMP) KRACHT was born March 6, 1921 as the fourth of ten children born to Bert & Sadie (DeJong) Veldkamp in the family home near Inwood, Iowa. She passed away December 27, 2017 at the age of 96 years, while at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.

She enjoyed her eight years of education at the local rural school house walking there and home with her siblings. During her young adult years, Priscilla was heavily involved with helping her father with all the activities of the farming operation.

On December 28, 1944 she was united in marriage to Bert B. Kracht of Rock Rapids, Iowa. To their marriage were born four children, two sons and two daughters. They lived and farmed a time at Rock Rapids, Iowa; Doon, Iowa; Beaver Creek, Minnesota, and near Luverne, Minnesota for many years. Bert passed away in March 2001, and Priscilla continued to live in the farm home that they loved for a couple of years before moving into Luverne. She lived in an apartment until the need arose for the Mary Jane Brown Home. She spent her last days under tender care at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage.

Through the years, Priscilla enjoyed and most unselfishly gave her strength and time to work beside her husband and family on the farm. She loved to share her home, food, time, and strength with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends, anytime. The treasures of Bert and Priscilla’s lives were the story of Jesus Christ and the fellowship they shared and enjoyed with family and friends who loved the teachings of Jesus.

Priscilla is survived by her four children, Jean (Chuck) Williams of Dundee, MN; Bernard (Linda) Kracht of Tripoli, IA; Roger (Barb) Kracht of Luverne, MN; and Shirley Patten of Grinnell, IA; eleven grandchildren; twenty four great- grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter. She has one surviving brother, Don (Joan) Veldkamp of Springfield, MO. In-laws surviving are Lawrence (Cleo) Foos, Dick Kracht, Pete (Bernice) Kracht, Albertha Flatberg, Henrietta (Lowell) Wirtjes, many nieces and nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one granddaughter, two brothers, six sisters, and a number of brothers and sisters-in-law.

   Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday. Funeral will be at 10:30 am Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. A private family burial will be after the reception at the Maplewood Cemetery.
