CLARENCE G. WIERTZEMA, age 78, of Rushmore, died Friday, June 9, 2006 at Arnold Memorial Nursing Home in Adrian. He was born December 31, 1927 in rural Rushmore to parents George and Luella (Habbena) Wiertzema. He attended country school near Rushmore. After his schooling, he remained on the family farm and helped with the farming.
Clarence was united in marriage to Alma Dammer on July 28, 1945 at Emmanuel Presbyterian Church south of Rushmore. They lived in Rushmore where he was involved in trucking and was the manager of the Farmers Union Coop for 32 years. Clarence was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping.
He is survived by his wife, Alma Wiertzema, Rushmore; children, Marjorie Buss, Rushmore; Jerry (Sandee) Wiertzema, Worthington; three grandchildren, Todd (Janelle) Boots, Tea, SD; Chad Wiertzema, Marshall and Holly (Steve) Herrig, Woodbury, MN; two great grandchildren, Allison Boots and Reese Herrig; one God son, Scott Wiertzema, Brandon, SD; brothers, Herman (Lena) Wiertzema, Ellsworth; Virgil (Anita) Wiertzema, Worthington; Marvin (Verna) Wiertzema, Rushmore and Orvin (Nancy) Wiertzema, Worthington; three sisters, Florence (Wally) Winter, Boyden, IA; Rosella (Harm) Dammer, Worthington and Delores (Ed) Weiss, Adrian.
Clarence was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Verona and a son-in-law, Stan Buss.
