FERNE SYLVIA WITT, age 94, of Luverne died Thursday, June 15, 2006, at the Mary Jane Brown Home, in Luverne. She was born August 21, 1911, in Sioux Falls, SD, to Peter L. and O’Lina (Sjurson) Phillips. She attended Sunnyside School, in Valley Springs, SD; and Valley Springs High School.
Ferne married Fred Witt on June 6, 1934, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Sioux Falls, SD where Ferne worked at The Manchester Biscuit Company. The couple later divorced. Ferne moved to Luverne in 1972.
Ferne married Raymond “Bud” Hanson on January 14, 1985, in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne.
She enjoyed music, especially playing the piano & singing. She will be lovingly remembered for her sense of humor.
Ferne is survived by her three daughters, Rochelle Mandl, Sioux Falls, SD; Audrey Witt, Sioux Falls, SD; and Tish (Harry) Evans, Rapid City, SD; five grandchildren, Dean Evans, Nikki (Mike) Wojcik, Tracy (Jason) Stamper, Brad Peterson & Dawn (Jimmy) Gentile; and eight great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bud Hanson, in 1999; ex-husband, Fred, in 1972; five brothers; and three sisters.
