BERNARD DOHLMANN, age 86, of Magnolia, died Wednesday, August 16, 2006, at his home in Magnolia. He was born June 4, 1920, in Steen, to George and Elizabeth (Tjepkes) Dohlmann. He attended country schools in Rock County.
He worked on the family farm until he was drafted in the U.S. Army. He served his country during WWII in the Pacific Theater from 1942 until 1945 when he was honorably discharged.
Bernard married Darlene Kuechenmeister on October 9, 1946, in Adrian. After their marriage the couple lived in Magnolia. He worked for Spease Tire Shop in Luverne and later worked for Midwest Standard where he was employed for more than 30 years, until he retired in 1979.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Magnolia. Bernard was a lifetime member of the Luverne VFW and was also a member of the Luverne American Legion. He enjoyed going to Edinburg, Texas in the winter; he also enjoyed tinkering with anything that needed fixing. He especially loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Darlene, Magnolia; two children and their spouses, Bernard G. (Helen) Dohlmann Jr., Hawley, MN; Victoria (Paul) Fickbohm, Florence, AL; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers and five sisters.
