MILDA JUNE REINERTSON, age 94, of Worthington, formerly of Astoria, died Tuesday, September 5, 2006 at the Southshore Care Center in Worthington. She was born on May 4, 1912 to parents, Martin Reinertson and Johanna (Westby) Reinertson.
Milda grew up in Astoria, South Dakota and graduated from Astoria High School. After graduation Milda attended the University of South Dakota and Augustana College in South Dakota and obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree. Milda served her country in the U.S. Navy from April 3, 1945 to March 5, 1966.
Milda was a teacher for 39 years teaching in rural Webster, Rosalyn Public School, Howard Public School, Sibley Public School and moved to Worthington in 1955 and taught for District 518 until she retired in 1975.
Milda was a member of the First Lutheran Church and the First Lutheran Women’s Society. She was also a member of the American Association of University Women, Delta Kappa Gamma Society International, Nobles County Art Society, Business Professional Women’s Club, National Education Association, Minnesota Education Association and the Worthington Education Association.
Her special interests included knitting, tatting, sewing, ice skating, bowling, gardening and oil painting.
Milda is survived by two sisters, Mabel (Merlin) Dragseth, Madison, SD; and G. Levina (Ingvald) Dragseth, Madison, SD; three brothers, Arnold (Rosella) Reinertson, Sun City, AZ; Kenneth (Marie) Reinertson, Sacramento, CA; and James (Florence) Reinertson, Edina, MN; one sister-in-law, Esterville, IA; and many nieces and nephews, several great nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
