NINA JOSEPHINE SERFLING, age 86, of Luverne, died Saturday, October 28, 2006, at the Sioux Valley Luverne Hospice Cottage. She was born October 12, 1920, in Springwater Township, rural Rock County, to Carl and Edith (Gibson) Anderson. Nina graduated from Beaver Creek High School in 1938. She worked as a housekeeper in Luverne and Minneapolis. She later attended one year at Minneapolis Business College; and then worked for Liberty Mutual in Minneapolis.
Nina married Roger Serfling on May 31, 1947, in Minneapolis. After their marriage, the couple lived in Luverne. Nina worked for many businesses in Luverne. In 1967, the couple moved to Adrian where they owned & operated The Adrian Laundromat. In 1977, they sold the Laundromat and moved back to Luverne. Nina then began working at The Blue Mound Inn for over twenty five years.
Nina is survived by her two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles Lee & Carol Serfling, Adrian; and Wade Allen & Sharon Serfling, Hutchinson; four grandchildren, Roger Serfling & his fiancée, Becca, Julie (Kevin) Wieneke, Jacob Serfling & Rebecca Serfling; a great grandson, Cameron Wieneke; and a sister-in-law, Margaret Anderson, Oklahoma City, OK.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Roger, in 1990; an infant daughter; a brother, Harry Anderson; and two sisters, Mabel Stanley & Ellen Roberts.
