DOUGLAS L. SHIPLEY, age 74, of Worthington, died, Friday, December 1, 2006 at Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls, SD. He was born June 18, 1932 in Worthington to parents Marshall L. and Marie (Meier) Shipley. He received his education at Worthington Public Schools and after his schooling enlisted in the United States Air Force.
He was united in marriage to Carole Collard while he was in the Air Force. They lived in Fort Worth, Texas and after the service, he was a sheet metal worker until his retirement. He was involved in the American Kennel Club for many years. In 1998, he returned to Worthington. In Worthington he was a member of the Legion, Elks and the Eagles Club.
Douglas is survived by his children, Lani of Arizona; Robert (Michelle) of California; Toni Lynn of Arizona and Melissa of Worthington; seven grandchildren; brother Robert (Margaret) Shipley, Worthington; and a sister Iris Kluever, Bigelow.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jack Shipley.
