LAVAE E. HILFERS, age 83, of Worthington, died Sunday, December 10, 2006, at the Crossroads Care Center, in Worthington. She was born September 6, 1923, in Fairmont, to Otto and Selma (Borchardt) Laabs. She attended school in Fairmont.
LaVae married Paul Hilfers on January 4, 1944, at St. Matthews Lutheran Church, in Worthington. After their marriage, the couple lived in Worthington. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Matthews Lutheran Church, in Worthington, where she had taught Sunday School. LaVae enjoyed baking, camping, crossword puzzles and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
LaVae is survived by her husband, Paul Hilfers, Worthington; four children and their spouses, Paulette & David Yates, Worthington; Jackie & William Reum, Worthington; Daryl & Rebecca Hilfers, Worthington; and Kevin & Roxanne Hilfers, Waconia; eight grandchildren, Chancey & Kathy Yates; Kelly & Randy Reum; and John, Martin, Lisa & Ryan Hilfers; and seven great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Wayne & Harvey Laabs; and four sisters, Amanda Hoppe, Lucille Hughes, Fern Stefanski & Loretta Zehm.
