LEO M. CONNELL, age 83, of Luverne, died Wednesday, December 20, 2006, at the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Center, in Luverne. He was born October 2, 1923 in Luverne Township, Rock County, to Leo and Minnie (Sodemann) Connell. He graduated from Luverne High School in 1941.
Leo was united in marriage to Delores Ormseth on August 1942 in Sioux City, IA. He was drafted in the U.S. Army in November of 1944, where he served his country during WWII. After his honorable discharge he returned to Luverne where he worked for a few companies in town; one being the Luverne Oil Company where he worked for over forty years. He later worked for Shoens Motors and Papik Motors.
He was a member of the Bethany Lutheran Church in Luverne; he was also a member of the Luverne American Legion. He enjoyed fishing, fixing old cars, and spending time with his family.
Leo is survived by six children and their spouses, Thomas and Karen Connell, West Point, NE; Richard and Jackie Connell, Champlin, MN; Dennis and Ladonna Connell, Phoenix, AZ; Nancy and Mike Vance, Luverne; Pat and Don Bents, Worthington; Mark and Mary Connell, Osseo, MN; fourteen grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren; and extended family at the Mary Jane Brown Nursing Home.
He is preceded in death by his parents, two sons, Gerald and John.
