DALE F. REKER, age 63, of Beaver Creek, died peacefully, Wednesday, June 9, 2010, as a result of a motorcycle accident, at the Inova Fairfax Hospital, in Falls Church, VA. He was born November 23, 1946, in Luverne, to Roman and Anita (Boots) Reker. Dale graduated from St. Adrian Catholic High School. He served his country in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1969, during the Vietnam War from 1967 to 1968. Dale married Nyla Harberts on May 30, 1970, in Reading. After their marriage, the couple lived in the rural Reading, Fulda & Lismore areas where Dale worked for the Wilmont Farmers Elevator. In 1973, the family moved to Beaver Creek. Dale worked at the Beaver Creek Elevator and later IBP and as a custodian for the Hills-Beaver Creek School District. He retired in 2008. In May, Dale & Nyla celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Beaver Creek; the Beaver Creek Volunteer Fire Department; the Luverne VFW; the Valley Springs American Legion; charter member of the Rolling Thunder SD 1 and the Patriot Guard; and charter member of the Beaver Creek Jaycees. Dale was an avid motorcyclist and loved to travel. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family. Dale is survived by his wife, Nyla Reker, Beaver Creek; daughter, Pat (Brad) Toben, Sioux Falls, SD, & their children, Jackie & Michael; son, Troy (Lisa) Reker, Sioux Falls, SD, & their son, Ty; mother, Anita Reker, Adrian; three brothers, Lyle (Maggie) Reker, Sherburn; Gary Reker, Adrian; and Randy (Natalie) Reker, Adrian; three sisters, Charlotte (Duane) Anderson, Milaca; Glenda (Dean) Groen, Luverne; and Theresa (Randy) Holinka, Fulda; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Roman.
