DALE W. GREIN, age 80 of Lakefield, died Thursday, June 17, 2010 at the Colonial Manor Nursing Home in Lakefield. He was born September 25, 1929 in Lakefield, MN to parents Henry and Lily (Vestweber) Grein.
He was united in marriage to Barbara Syverson on May 20, 1951, at the Lutheran parsonage in St. James, MN. After their marriage the couple farmed southwest of Lakefield. In later years Dale worked as a plumber and also helped farm with neighbors and family.
Dale was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Rost Township. He enjoyed deer hunting, fishing, playing cards and playing pool. In his younger days he was a flag man and worked on a pit crew for the Jackson Speedway.
Dale is survived by five children, Miles (Donna) Grein, Lennox, SD; Dayle Joleen (Jim) Wiebersiek, Worthington, MN; Laura Grein (Chuck Oddson) Lakefield, MN; Eric Grein, Fort Dodge, IA; Larry (Theresa) Grein, Osage, IA; five grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren and ten great step-grandchildren; one brother, Melvin Grein, Lakefield, MN; three sisters, Iona (Kelly) Gehrls, Okabena, MN; Pearl (Irvin) Swanson, Lakefield, MN; and Caroleen (Fred) Kelly, McMinnville, OR.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Barbara on August 29, 2005 and three brothers, Arnold, Vernon and Earl.
