DONALD MOTL, age 82, of Worthington, died Saturday, July 10, 2010, at his home. He was born October 9, 1927, in Marshfield, WI, to John and Leone (Laufenberg) Motl. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School in Marshfield; and graduated from Wells High School. Don married Marie Kalis on March 27, 1951, in Easton. After their marriage, the couple farmed in Wells before moving to Worthington in 1960. Don entered into a partnership with his parents in the Coast to Coast Store in Worthington. From 1979 to 2003, he owned and operated the Coast to Coast Store with his wife, Marie. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington, where he ushered for several years; the Knights of Columbus; Past President of the St. Mary Home & School Association; Past President of the Worthington Country Club; and Past President of the Worthington Retail Association. He enjoyed puzzles of all kinds, bird watching, bowling, lawn bowling, tennis, baking, gardening, golfing including making nine holes in one. In his younger years, he was in Golden Gloves Boxing. Don is survived by his wife, Marie Motl, Worthington; five children, Kathleen (Barry) Ramey, LeSeuer; Rick (Connie) Zephyrhills, FL; Jeanne (Robert) Van Drasek, Albertville; Joann (Peter) Lepse, Topeka, KS; and Jim (Vickie) Motl, Little Rock, AR; thirteen grandchildren; brother, Bill (Sue) Motl, Mesa, AZ; three sisters, Mary Koziolek, Wells; Joyce (Ted) Northwick, Rosemount; and Jane (Warren) Wehner, Rochester; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Robert “Bob” in 2005.
