MARION ANTONIA “MICKEY” KOENS, age 79, of Luverne, died Sunday, July 18, 2010, at the Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD. She was born November 20, 1930, in Withee, WI, to Andrew and Anna (Deutschman) Mickelson. She attended school in Wisconsin.
Mickey married George R. Koens on December 6, 1957, in Sibley, IA. After their marriage, the couple lived in Adrian before moving to Luverne in 1958. Mickey worked as a nurses aid in Worthington and was also a homemaker. She became a resident of the Tuff Memorial Home, in Hills, in 2006. In 2007, she moved to the Bethany Lutheran Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD.
She attended the United Methodist Church in Luverne. She enjoyed baking, flower gardening, knitting, crocheting and was extremely devoted to her family.
Mickey is survived by her daughter, Darlene Koens, Larchwood, IA; three grandchildren, Daniel Domeyer, Sioux Falls, SD; Dawn Domeyer, Sioux Falls, SD; and Darin Domeyer, Sioux Falls, SD; and three great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, George, on September 27, 2000.
