JACOB ?JAKE? W. HINRICHS, age 88, of Ellsworth, died Friday, March 11, 2011, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. He was born December 7, 1922, in Little Rock Township, MN, to William and Gertrude (Meester) Hinrichs. He attended country school in rural Ellsworth. Jake enlisted in the United States Navy on September 12, 1942. He served his country during WWII before being honorably discharged in 1945. Jake married Marian Solma on April 1, 1947, in Ellsworth. After their marriage, the couple farmed south of Adrian for over sixty two years. In 1987, they moved to Ellsworth. Jake farmed for all of his life. He also worked various jobs which included building the Adrian Pool; and working at the Adrian Rest Area for over fifteen years. He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth; the Ellsworth City Council for over eight years; the Ellsworth Sportsmans Club and the Ellsworth American Legion. Jake enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time on his farm. He could spend countless hours driving along the countryside checking crops & looking for wildlife. Jake also enjoyed trying his luck at the casino. He loved his family & could always be counted on for sharing a good story of yesteryear. Stories which will be shared for years to come. Jake is survived by his wife, Marian Hinrichs, Ellsworth; five children, Ronald (Lynn) Hinrichs, Ellsworth; Marvin Hinrichs, Adrian; Arlene (Jim Tanner) Rosdahl, Northwood, IA; Jacob Hinrichs Jr., Ellsworth; and Ruth (John Mauch) Hinrichs, Adrian; four grandchildren, Jody (Merrily) Hinrichs, Ellsworth; Amy (Bryce Petersen) Jorgensen, Northwood, IA; Christina (Ray) Palmer, Ellsworth; and Kim (Phillip) Hannan, Adrian; nine great grandchildren, Jordon, Amber, Trei, Jenna, McKenna, Taylor, Kaci, Tristan & Khailee; a sister, Joyce Habbena, Ellsworth; and numerous nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Robert; an infant son; a great grandson, Carter Palmer; two brothers, Henry & George Hinrichs; sister, Elizabeth Bannick; and Marvin?s special friend, Janice Everson. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at the Zion Presbyterian Church in Ellsworth, with a prayer service at 8 pm. Visitation also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth, officiated by Rev. Calvin Hsu. Burial will be in the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth.
