You have our deepest sympathy during this time of sadness. Doug was a close friend of ours during the 80's and 90's though we had not been in contact recently. Doug was the Godfather to my son Zack who died in an atv accident in 2007 at the age of 21. Sherry and I have great memories of Doug and his entertaining personality and terrific sense of humor.

To Doug's mom and family, we were saddened of the news of Doug's passing. We had lost touch with him for many years and about a yr ago connected with him on face book and got caught back up on life. He always made us laugh. He will be missed by us and many. Sorry we can't make it to the service, our Love and Prayers to all.

It is with my heartfelt sympathy that I send this note to Doug's loved ones. I've known Doug since high school when we were 'groupies' for the band. Lots of laughs were shared and good memories were made over the years. Doug was quite an entertaining character who always had a joke to share or a story to tell. I will always remember him for the twinkle in his eye and that mischievous grin of his. Never quite knew if he was pulling your leg or not! Doug worked hard and played hard and lived life to the fullest. Rest in peace my friend - Luana

To All of Doug''s family and friends, what can one say about Doug. He was truly one of a kind. He was funny, kind, caring, a man who loved life in the fullest. He will be missed by so many people and forever in our hearts. One never knew what he was up to, seemed to always have a joke up his sleeve. I remember him sharing his umbrella with me (Debbie) one hot summer day at the race track when he saw the heat getting to me. He loved to pick on my husband, Rick, and never failed to make us laugh. Our biggest regret will be that we did not know he was ill or in the hospital or Hospice or we would have loved to have visited him. Our deepest condolences to all of you, remember his sunshine and laughter, his big heart and all the memories you have. We know we will. God Bless you and rest in peace Doug. You are racing and riding on the other side now, out of pain and we will all meet again.

It has been said that it is not the number of years in one's life that really matters, but rather, the amount of life that one manages to squeeze out of their years.
With that said, I think it is fair to say that Doug did more in his short life than many who will live to be 100!
I'll miss our crazy conversations Doug. ... you will always be remembered!

Remember when your grand mother would take you to the side and whisper in your ear that you were her favorite, but keep it a secret. That was Doug. He made every one who knew him feel special with his crazy off beat humor and witty knowledge. Hilde and I had so much fun when ever we were together with doug. We loved the band, Drag racing and the motorcycle trips over the years and will never forget this dynamic man. He made up for lost time by blessing every ones lives with what was "Doug".
We will truly miss you "MR. Steinhoff"

To the family and friends of Doug, I am very sorry to hear about his passing.
I went to Mankato State with Doung and just found out about the news through the recent college alumni newsletter. Thank you to whomever contacted the university.
I remember Doug as a smart, hard-working but very happy young man. He always had a smile on his face and was always in a good mood.
My favorite memory of Doug is an easy one to remember. I wasn''t there but I remember Doug telling me the story.
As we were nearing graduation, Doug signed up for an on-campus interview with a visiting company. The only available time overlapped with a class so Doug contacted the professor to let him know he''d be 15 minutes late on that day. The professor (who had a good sense of humor) wished Doug luck and thanked him for the advance notice, agreeing that going to the interview was the right thing to do.
On the day of the interview, the professor lectured for 14 minutes, looked at his watch, told the class to take a break and sat down. A minute later, Doug walks in. He saw people conversing, reading and whatever. As a perplexed Doug took his seat, the professor stood up, walked over to the lecturn and leaned over it, staring right at Doug. "Now, we can begin..."
For a moment, Doug wondered if the professor really waited for him to arrive before starting the lecture. Everyone - especially Doug - had a good laugh.
Again, my deepest condolences for your loss. I hope my story (although it was really Doug''s story) adds another reason to smile when you think of him.
