GERALD MULDER, age 92, of Worthington, MN died Sunday, April 07, 2024, at the Sanford Worthington Medical Center. He was born February 23, 1932, in Lismore, MN to John and Fannie (Terhark) Mulder. He proudly served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1954. He also went on to serve in his community as the County Commissioner of Nobles County.
Gerald married the love of his life Verna Habben on September 9, 1956, in Easley, SC. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore, MN where he farmed for several years as they started their family and had four children, Jeff, Janice, Jonathan, and Justin. They eventually moved to town in Worthington, MN in 1988. Gerald spent the rest of this career working as a local USDA inspector. Gerald and Verna were faithful members of the Lakeside Church in Worthington as fervent followers of Christ. Some of Gerald’s many passions included spending time with friends and family, watching his purple martins, tending to his roses/tomato plants/clematis flowers, playing pinochle, and volunteering at the Bible Missions thrift store in Worthington.
Gerald is survived by three of his siblings, Joyce Hovland of Worthington, MN, LaDonne Christians of Worthington, MN, and Bernie Mulder of Merlin, OR, children, Jeff (Janice) Mulder, Le Mars, IA; Jonathan (Kimberly) Mulder, Spring, TX; and Justin Mulder, Freeman, SD; a son-in-law, Kendal Kaihoi, Tucson, AZ; seven grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Mulder, Jeanna (Lance) Pankratz, Joelle (Jeremiah) Minter, Jena (Andrew) Mahoney, Randi (Nate) Ernst, Rachyl Kaihoi, Joshua (Kaci) Mulder; twelve great-grandchildren; Elliot, Joy, Kaytlin, Logun, Emmalin, Olivia, Samuel, Ava, Danielle, Phoebe, Josephine and Annalise. He is also survived by a special family friend and caregiver, Karen Terhark. He was preceded in death by his parents, 11 siblings, his wife, Verna and daughter, Janice Kaihoi.
Memorial service will be 3 pm Thursday, April 11 at the Lakeside Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Wesley Kouba. A time of fellowship will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Committal of cremains with full military honors provided by the Worthington American Legion & VFW, will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
