Lorraine Dorothy (Kunze) Schaap

   LORRAINE DOROTHY SCHAAP, age 97, of Worthington, died Saturday, April 6, 2024, at the Timber Hills Assisted Living Center in Inver Grove Heights, MN. She was born November 1, 1926, in rural Fulda, MN. She graduated from Lakefield High School.
   Lorraine married Arthur Schaap, in Luverne, MN on May 28, 1947. The couple lived in Worthington their entire married life where they celebrated 74 years as husband and wife. They raised five children and Lorraine was a devoted mother. In 1958, they started Art Schaap Moving and Storage where Lorraine worked as secretary and bookkeeper before retiring in 1994.  
   She was a dedicated member of Solid Rock Assembly and a faithful follower of Jesus Christ. Lorraine was active in the women’s ministries and bible studies. She was a talented knitter and quilter- her quilts and afghans are treasured by all. She is also remembered by her baking, especially her monster cookies. She enjoyed card and board games, puzzles, reading, sitting outside by the lake at the cabin and sharing memories with family.
   Lorraine is survived by her children, Ardella Windorski, Lake Elmo, MN; Jeffrey Schaap (Ginger) Belgium, WI; and Loretta Schaap-Overby (David), Cottage Grove, MN; twelve grandchildren; twenty three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
   She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; two daughters, Gloria Strandberg and Glenda Tims; two grandchildren, Stacey Morgan and Benjamin Schaap; six sisters, Dora Buckman, Mary Kunze, Lilly Kasch, Alice Wilken, Helen Grimmius, and Leatha Kunze (her twin); and three brothers, Louis Kunze, John Kunze and Wilbert Kunze.

   Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, April 12, at Solid Rock Assembly Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Scott Peterson. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be at the Worthington Cemetery.
