Mary Wehr Obituary

   MARY JEAN WEHR, age 81, of Worthington, died Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. She was born September 14, 1942, in Adrian, to Bernard and Lorraine (Wolf) Wieneke. She graduated from St. Adrian High School and attended Mankato Commercial College.

   Mary Jean married Douglas Wehr on October 9, 1965 at St. Adrian Catholic Church in Adrian. After their marriage, they lived in Worthington. They later moved to Lismore before moving back to Worthington in 1972. Mary Jean worked as a loan officer at the First National Bank in Worthington, which later became Community First. She then worked for Kevin Lease at State Farm Insurance in Worthington. Mary Jean began working at the Fulda National Bank before retiring in 2010.

   She was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington, where she served as a communion distributer. Mary Jean was also a member of the Worthington Chamber of Commerce. She enjoyed bowling, her family summer vacations, fishing, playing piano and playing softball in her younger years.

   Mary Jean is survived by her three sons, Alan Wehr, Sioux Falls, SD; Bradley Wehr, Worthington; and Corey Wehr, Worthington; grandson, Tyson Wehr; two sisters, JoAnn (Bruce) Amundson, Miltona; and Kay Greve, Sioux Falls, SD; two brothers, Joe (Jolene) Wieneke, Adrian; and Dale (Mary) Wieneke, Lismore; two sisters-in-law, Sandy Wieneke, Adrian; and Cheryl (Carl) Heitkamp, Adrian; many nieces & nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug Wehr, on January 8, 2010; a sister and brother-in-law, Rosanne & Gene Wrege; three brothers, Richard, Bruce and John Wieneke; and brother-in-law, Douglas Greve.

   A time of fellowship will be from 4-6 pm Monday, March 11 at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Parish Prayers will be at 6 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Worthington, officiated by Fr. Tim Biren. A private family graveside service will be at a later date.
