APRIL ROSE LAVOIE, 26, of Adrian, formerly of Iona, passed away unexpectedly in her home on October 21, 2018. She was born on December 18, 1991 in Worthington, MN to Gary Ellgen and Leisha Lavoie.
After graduating from Fulda High School, April worked at Page One Printing in Slayton. She then worked as a waitress at the Hub in Slayton. She loved working with the public.
In 2013, April and her fiancé moved to Adrian, MN so she could pursue a CNA position with Arnold Memorial Nursing home. She was so happy and excited about this job.
April loved her family, laughing, playing tricks, music, reading, coloring, drawing, scrapbooking, watching movies, cooking, baking and was quite fond of swimming in the pond. April had an extraordinary talent and love for art and could design and draw beautiful pictures and landscapes.
April would light up a room with her smile, compassion and kindness. She had a heart of gold and would always put others first. She admired her friends and family and had an inner strength to put on a cheery face even when she was not feeling well. She had an ability to reach people in a deep and positive way. April lived her life to the fullest through simple pleasures. She loved life and never complained. April left us to soon and she will deeply be missed.
April is survived by her mother, Leisha Lavoie, Worthington; finance Daniel Albertson, Adrian; foster parents, Jesse and Espe Lavoie, Iona; foster siblings, Jessica Lavoie, Sioux Falls, SD; Jenefer Lavoie, Worthington; Miguel Lavoie, Iona; two uncles, Mike and Jean Lavoie, Seattle, WA; Bart and Watty Lavoie, Los Angeles, CA; aunt, Lazette and Richard Finley, Sioux Falls,SD; and her grandmother, Sharon McDonald, Iona.
She was preceded in death by her father Gary Elgin, and 3 grandfathers, Robert Lavoie, Clarence Wittrock, and James McDonald.
A time of fellowship will be from 4-7 pm Thursday, November 1, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date.
