Brooke Thompson Obituary

BROOKE ELIZABETH THOMPSON, age 22, of Luverne, was called by God Tuesday, July 23, 2019, as a result of an automobile accident near Brandon, SD. She was born April 15, 1997, in Luverne, to Wayne and Mary (Spartz) Thompson. She graduated from Luverne High School in 2015. She spent her college summers working at the Luverne Country Club as a bartender/ waitress sharing her quick wit and spunky personality with members and staff.  Brooke  graduated from Southwest Minnesota State University in 2018 with a Major in Psychology and  Minors in Sociology and Spanish. She moved to Duluth, MN in August 2018 to work at Lutheran Social Services as a Supervised Visit Worker.  In October 2018 she moved back to Luverne and joined the Blue Mound Figure Skating coaching staff for the 2018-2019 season.  In January 2019 she began working as a childcare assistant at Kids Club in Rock Rapids, IA.  Many would find days filled with 22 two year olds crazy and exhausting but Brooke loved the craziness, the silliness and how full of life each and every one of them is.  In February 2019 she was accepted into the Master’s program at the University of South Dakota to pursue a degree in Social Work.  Brooke had plans of becoming an Elementary School Counselor or social worker at the Sanford Children’s Castle in Sioux Falls, SD.

She loved spending time with family and friends, her smile was infectious to all that knew and loved her.  As her friends would say, “Brooke is the glue that holds everyone together.” She especially adored her very special role as Auntie Brooke to sweet little Nevaeh and Taya.  Her nieces were a huge part of her world and she was theirs.  Auntie Brooke always, always had ears that really listen, arms that hug and hold, a love that’s never ending and a heart that’s made of gold.  Not to mention they could get her to do just about anything for her “price” (a hug and a kiss). Her smile, passion and sparkle added so much love to the Blue Mound Figure Skating family.   She enjoyed dancing and loved being part of the SMSU Dance Team as well as her time coaching for the Marshall Figure Skating Club. She also enjoyed tubing, wakeboarding, and don’t forget the shopping! As we all know she has an endless closet full of clothes. .  . As Brooke would say “A girl can never have too many clothes!”  She had a love beyond love for sparkle and bling.  Brooke was the new keeper of the sparkles at the ice show going from locker room to locker room sparkling all the girls.   She recently told her Mom, “My wedding is going to have so much bling everyone will need sunglasses to come into my reception.”  If they had a difference of opinion she could always win her Dad over saying  “Love you Daddy!” with a big smile and giggle.

SMILE, SPARKLE, SHINE OUR SWEET BROOKE-A-PIE!
