CARTER MICHAEL BRAUN, age 15, of rural Reading, died Saturday, June 22, 2019, as a result of an automobile accident near Lismore. He was born April 13, 2004, in Worthington, to Andy and Kim (Carlson) Braun.
Carter had just completed his freshman year at Adrian High School where he played football, hockey and baseball. He enjoyed fishing and hunting. He sold sweetcorn in the summer months and he helped his father in the lawn care business. Carter loved sports but his true passion was hockey. He touched many hearts in his young life with a sparkle in his eye. He was very quick witted and you could see by his expression that his mind was always working on a smart comment or a response.
He is survived by his parents, Andy and Kim Braun, Reading; three siblings, Tanner, Easton and Jacelyn; grandparents, Mike and Judy Braun, Worthington; and Todd Carlson, Worthington; step grandfather, Bruce Heidebrink, Worthington; aunts and uncles, Mason (Elyce) Braun, Brandon, SD; Sarah (Chad) Nickel, Worthington; Dan Braun, Reading; Sarah (Seth) Adamson, Sioux Falls, SD; Brandon Carlson, Lakefield; and Janie (James) Steckley, Hartford, SD; great-grandparents, Louis and Amie Olson, Heron Lake; and Sandra Carlson, Worthington; and many cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Sheila Heidebrink; and his great grandparents.
Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Thursday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Funeral will be 11 am Friday at St. Matthew Lutheran Church officiated by Pastor Mark Schreiber. A private family committal will be at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
