CHARLINE G. ROBERTS, age 83, of Luverne, died Friday, November 1, 2019, at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center. She was born January 15, 1936, in Green Valley, MN, to Charles and Lola (Aust) Graffunder. Charline graduated from Marshall High School. On May 25, 1954, she entered the United States Air Force and served her country until being honorably discharged on February 24, 1956.
Charline met her husband, William Roberts while they were serving in the Air Force. They were married on January 14, 1956, in O’Fallon, IL. In 1974, the couple moved to Pipestone. In 1985, they moved to Luverne.
She enjoyed crossword puzzles, reading, gardening, traveling, watching television and she loved to go out to eat.
Charline is survived by her two daughters, Melinda Roberts, Colorado Springs, CO; and Stephanie (Gerald) Hughes, Luverne; six grandchildren, Wendy Flowers, Afton Smith, Brett (Britta) DeJager, Jillian (Jessie) Bough, Amanda Dekoekkoek & Jory Roberts; eight great-grandchildren, Gavin Snow, Owen Smith, Reed Smith, Ellie DeJager, Landon (Michaela) Smith, J.R. Bough, Jessa Bough and Jaxon Bleckert; two brothers, Bill Graffunder, Brooklyn Park; and Myron (Sonny) Graffunder, Conway, SC; and two sisters, Nancy Woods, Saginaw, MI; and Betty Seiler, Marshall.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Bill on May 25, 2008; son, Steven Roberts, in 1994; and an infant grandson, Christopher Roberts; and numerous siblings.
The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Tim Ceynowa, the staff at the Sanford Luverne Medical Center, the Mary Jane Brown Good Samaritan Home and Parkview Manor Nursing Home, for all of their wonderful care & compassion. Funeral will be 10:30 am Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Luverne. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial with full military honors provided by the Luverne American Legion & VFW, will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
