DONALD WILLIAM SCHMUCK SR. age 92, of Luverne, died Wednesday, November 14, 2018, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. He was born August 30, 1926, in Luverne, to Henry and Selma (Krumheuer) Schmuck. He attended country school and school in Luverne.
Don married Viola Stuckenbroker on May 7, 1947, at St. John Parsonage, in Luverne. Don worked as a farmhand for local farmers, at A.R. Woods and McClure Plumbing in Luverne. The couple moved to Minnetonka in 1981, where they managed a condo for ten years. In 1991 they retired and moved back to Luverne.
He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church. Don enjoyed sports and loved to attend Luverne High School sporting events. He especially enjoyed dancing to old time music with his wife, Vi.
Don is survived by his four children, Don Schmuck Jr., Omaha, NE; Marilyn Schmuck, Luverne; David (Ava) Schmuck, Fairview Heights, IL; and Doreen Milstead, Kingston, WA; five grandchildren, Paul (Sharon) Schmuck, William Milstead, Daniel (Jennifer) Milstead, Jason Schmuck and Kristina Schmuck; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Wallace (Verna) Schmuck, Luverne; and a sister, Judy (James) Hagen, Sioux Falls, SD.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Viola on August 29, 2010; son, Dennis on December 29, 2016; great-granddaughter, Heidi Leann Milstead; sister, Helen Gamsby; and three brothers, Herbert, Henry and Robert Schmuck.
Funeral will be 1 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Andrew Palmquist. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Monday. Burial will be in the Maplewood Cemetery in Luverne.
