Eunice Ailts Obituary

   EUNICE IRENE AILTS, age 73, of Worthington, died Saturday, December 8, 2018, at the Worthington Sanford Sunset Hospice Cottage. She was born October 7, 1945, in Adrian, to John and Minnie (Reitsma) Elsing. She attended school in Rushmore and graduated from Worthington High School in 1963. She graduated from Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD, in 1964 with a degree in accounting.

   Eunice married Robert Wayne Ailts on September 17, 1965 at the Eastfriesland Presbyterian Church in Rushmore. After their marriage, the couple lived in Rushmore and moved to Worthington in April of 1968.

   In 1965, Eunice began working at the First State Bank Southwest, in Rushmore, and loyally served her customers for 40 years until her retirement in 2005. She had many positions at the bank, including trusted friend and mentor. She was honored to be Power of Attorney and Executor for many of her customers’ estates. After retirement, she worked part-time in Accounting at Ahlquist & Wiltrout Law Office, in Worthington, for over seven years.

   Eunice was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore for over 50 years. She served as Clerk of Session, lay pastor coordinator, Sunday school teacher, choir member, and more. She was actively involved in both the Rushmore and Worthington communities as a member of the Rushmore Booster Club, American Cancer Society, Relay for Life, Investment Club, Pinochle Card Club, and the Stash & Scrappy Quilt Guild. She enjoyed quilting, traveling, cooking, and spending quality time with her family. Eunice invested in people throughout her life and developed trusted friendships along the way.

   Eunice is survived by her two daughters, Lori Beth (Ron) Glawe, Worthington; and Jolene Renee (Jeff) Smith, Sioux Falls SD; two grandchildren, Ty and Jacob Smith; two sisters, Ruth (Harold) Dykstra, Ocheyedan, IA; and Phyllis (Dennis) Meyer, Rushmore; brother, Jim (Barb) Elsing, Fulda; two brothers-in-law, Richard Rutgers, Brewster; and Don (Bonnie Lindquist) Eide, Webster; two sisters-in-law, June Ailts, Rushmore; and Faye Ailts, Worthington; two Godchildren, Jessica Hacker, Canby; and Paul Elsing, St. Louis Park; and many nieces and nephews.

   She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert Ailts  on October 13, 2015; two sisters, Clarice Rutgers and Ellen Eide; and two infant sisters, Mary Beth and Jolene Beth Elsing.

   Visitation will be from 4-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Funeral will be Tuesday at 10:30 am at the First Presbyterian Church, in Rushmore, officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
