GARY LLOYD JOHNSON, age 68, of Worthington, went home to be with Jesus on Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington, MN.

   Gary was the first born of three sons to Lloyd and Neva (Haynes) Johnson on June 11, 1949 in Long Prairie, MN. Gary's dad being, a pastor, moved the family to Park Rapids, MN and then in 1962 to Worthington, MN to become the pastor at First Baptist Church where Gary has been a lifetime member.

   Gary graduated from Worthington Senior High School in 1968 and while in high school he worked washing dishes at Lake Haven Nursing Home.  Gary also worked at Country Kitchen and then moved on to working for Paul Hansberger farming and raising pigs for thirty years. Eventually Gary moved on to working for Petersen Cleaning for four and a half years and then to Hope Haven cleaning Ground Round.

   Gary had wonderful insight to people and loved to be connected to others. A real social butterfly, he was forthright with his opinions and honesty. He was a hard worker always wanted to do his best. Gary loved the farm and being outside mowing, gardening and taking care of animals.

   Gary had a fantastic memory when it came to the ability to remember his family history. He could tell you who was related to whom and where in the family line they belonged.

   Enjoyments for Gary included being with Deb his girlfriend of thirty seven years, going to fairs especially the Spencer Iowa fair, eating at Perkins Friday evening and Sunday at noon and visiting with friends.

   Gary is survived by his brother, Steve Johnson and wife, Diane along with their daughters Katie Elizondo and Andrea Hanson; his brother, Kevin Johnson and wife, Peggy and their children Scott Johnson and Amy Buys; and special friend, Deb McLeod.

   He was preceded in death by his parents.

   Funeral service will be 10:30 Saturday at the Lakeside Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Wesley Kouba. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Worthington.
