GLADYS “GLAD” ALICE HENNING, age 70, of Worthington, died Sunday, September 8, 2019, at the Sanford Worthington Sunset Hospice Cottage. Glad was born March 11, 1949, in Marshall, to George and Erma (Langsweirdt) Landuyt. She graduated from Walnut Grove High School in 1967.
Glad married Raymond Henning on November 17, 1973 at the American Lutheran Church in Worthington. The couple made their home in rural Rushmore, where they farmed. Glad began working at Southwest Hearing Aid Center in Worthington, in 1989. She purchased the business in 1992. Ray died on June 12, 2012. Glad moved to Worthington in October of 2017.
She was a member of the American Lutheran Church in Worthington, where she had served on the board. Glad was also a member of the Bigelow American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She loved being a caregiver. She enjoyed dancing, playing pickle ball, Elvis Presley music, wintering in McAllen, TX and Mesa, AZ, gardening and she was famous for her sweet corn patch.
Glad is survived by her son, Roger (Tami) Henning, Rushmore; a daughter, Becky Henning, Eagan; four grandchildren, Connor and Carson Henning, Rushmore; Drew and Dylan Landuyt, Myerstown, PA; special friend, John Schrader, Mesa, AZ; five siblings, Gerald (Kandy) Landuyt, Myerstown, PA; Gloria VanOverbeke, Tracy; George Jr. (Kris) Landuyt, Tracy; Gail (Tom) Boyum, Bloomington; and Gwen (Dale) Johnson, Tracy; and a sister-in-law, Doris Landuyt.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ray; two brothers, Gordon and Gary Landuyt; a sister, Georgena (Eddie) Smith; and a brother-in-law, Roger VanOverbeke.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
A time of fellowship will be from 4-7 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. A memorial service will be 10 am Thursday at the American Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Gary Andersen. A private family burial of cremains will be later.
