HELEN M. BECKMAN, age 98, of Worthington, died Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Parkview Manor Nursing Home in Ellsworth. She was born March 5, 1920, in Worthington, to Harry and Kate (Sietsema) Post. She attended elementary school in district #86 and later graduated from Worthington High School.
Helen married Jacob H. Beckman on June 8, 1941, in Luverne. After their marriage, the couple farmed on the family farm near Reading. In 1974, they retired and moved to Worthington.
She was a member of the First Lutheran Church in Worthington; and the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed ballroom dancing at the Coliseum, cooking and needlework, especially quilting and making afghans.
Helen is survived by her four children, Sharon (Bob) Zinnel, Luverne; James (Janice) Beckman, Reading; Greg Beckman, Buffalo; and Jerome (Lori) Beckman, Alexandria, OH; eight grandchildren; sixteen great-grandchildren; three great great-grandchildren; and a sister Beverly Jensen, Sun City, AZ.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jacob on March 10, 2001; and a sister, Wilma Young.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Funeral will be 4 pm Saturday at the First Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Pastor Jeanette McCormick. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
