JOHN C. PATER, age 75, of Worthington, died Sunday, September 22, 2019 at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. He was born April 13, 1944 in Worthington, MN; to parents Charles and Dena (Boekhout) Pater. He attended school in Worthington, graduating in 1962. He later obtained his degree from Jackson Technical School for appliance and refrigeration repair.
John was united in marriage to Karla (Bruner) Pater on May 18, 1964 in Worthington. They made their home in Worthington and John enlisted in the United States Army. They moved to Germany and then to Texas.
After his discharge from the Army in 1969, the couple returned to Worthington and he began work at Armour and Company. He ultimately retired from his career working for the US Government as a Federal Meat Inspector. They moved to Lake Shetek, MN in 1991 and eventually returned to Worthington.
John was a member of the Worthington Christian Church. He enjoyed genealogy, learning the Dutch language, and recently began riding motorcycles again.
He is survived by his three children, Lyle (Paula) Pater, Arlington, VA; Nichole (Dino) Brooks, Pierre, SD and Joni (Chris) Belair, Omaha NE; grandchildren Zachariah, Jordyn, Alexis, Tyler, Brooklyn, Brendan and Landon; and one great-grandchild, Gracelynn.
John was proceeded in death by his parents; Charles and Dena Pater; wife, Karla Pater; two sisters, Charlotte Hanson and Darlene Christensen, and beloved son-in-law, John MaComb.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 28th from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the Worthington Christian Church. The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM, also at the church. Burial will be at The Garden of Memories Cemetery in Worthington.
