Leone (Cushman) Riley

   LEONE (CUSHMAN) RILEY passed away peacefully at the age of 95 in her home Friday, March 23, 2018 surrounded by family.  Born on July 14, 1922 in Terril, Iowa to Paul & Rosa Ella “Robinson” Cushman.  She met Ralph Thomas Riley in 1944 and they were later married on November 5, 1945 in Webster, South Dakota. Their first anniversary gift was the birth of their first child, Dennis, followed by an infant son (stillborn) in 1948, Kenneth & (stillborn twin sister) in 1949, Gerald in 1950, Linda in 1952, LuAnn in 1955 and Roger in 1956.  Between 1948 and the summer of 1963 they lived in Marrietta, MN, Waterton, SD, Ortonville, MN, Chandler, MN, Slayton, MN and then Worthington, MN where they remained until October 9, 1991 when they moved to their 29th home in Colorado Springs, CO.  Family summer vacations with her children were spent at “Goldie’s Resort” helping with her sister’s business in Battle Lake, MN.  There was also a trip to California in 1978 to visit sons, Roger and Jerry.  She worked at the Campbell’s Soup Company in Worthington for approximately thirteen years until she was needed at home to care for her mother full time.  She loved being a grandmother and was very involved in the day-to-day care of many of her grandchildren.  Greg, Ron and Joe spent several years living with their grandparents and considered her to be their mom.  Having always been a caretaker, she devotedly, selflessly and lovingly cared for her husband Ralph for the last thirty years of his life due to his disability.

   She was preceded in death by her parents, Paul and Rosa; sister, Goldie; brother, LeRoy; niece’s, Darlene and Barbra Rose; nephew, Michael; son, Gerald; grandson, Terry (infant); three great-grandchildren Kayleigh (5), Lance and Ariel (infant twins), a great-great-grandson, Exzachary (infant); and her loving husband of 58 years, Ralph.

   She is survived by three sons, Dennis, Kenneth (Joyce) and Roger; two daughters, Linda (Jack) Rogers and LuAnn (Wayne) Baanhofman; fifteen grandchildren, Gregory, Ronald, Joseph, Jennifer Clark, Tammy Larsen, Naij Kleven, Traci Anderson, Nicole Pazandak, Amynda Hadfield, Daniel, Molly Quintero, Sarah Garner, Steven, Jacob and Mary Sanchez; twenty five great-grandchildren, Samantha, Christina, Jordan, Nathan, Brittany, Madison, Briana, Paige, Colton, William, Abigail, Jack, Danyel, Kaiden, Madelin, Owen, Angel, Tiernan, Paul, Evan, Issabel, Caleb, Zoey, Malachi and Kensington; and six great-great-grandchildren, Tylan, Olivia, Jayse, Elliette, Liam and Molliegh.

   Her last word to her family was “HAPPY”.

   Funeral will be 1 pm Wednesday at the Dingmann funeral Home in Worthington. Burial will be in the Worthington Memorial Garden.
