LLOYD VINCENT JOHNSON, age 97, of Worthington, died Saturday, January 11, 2020, at the Sunset Hospice Cottage in Worthington. He was born January 15, 1922, in Slayton, Mason Township; he was the son of Herman and Carrie (Rheinholt) Johnson. He grew up in rural Slayton, where he attended and graduated from country school District #5 by Currie, MN. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II for two years.
Lloyd married Eileen Beach on July 2, 1949. After their marriage, they farmed in rural Slayton for twenty years, then moved to an acreage east of Worthington on Hwy 35. Lloyd worked at Worthington Monument Woks until he retired. He loved gardening, fishing and butchering. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church.
Lloyd is survived by his wife, Eileen Johnson, Worthington; two sons, Michael (Linda) Johnson, Kensington; and Steven (Diana) Johnson, Denver, CO; one daughter, Catherine (Allen) Dale, Marshall; eight grandchildren, Andrea (Chuck) Haggelnmiller, Jerimiah (Johnna) Johnson, Jerad Johnson, Jeannie (Kevin) Wolf, Jason (Rachel) Johnson, Jill (Cliff) Carpenter, Mora (John) Thomas and Carrie (Dan) Herrig; sixteen great-grandchildren; a sister, Bernice Schafer, Slayton; and a brother, Earl (Shirley) Johnson, Slayton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Barbara Jean; two sisters, Blondie Eicken and Trickey Joosten; and three brothers, Butch, Ray and Jessie Johnson.
A time of fellowship will be from 10 to 11 am Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Worthington. Memorial Mass will be 11 am Thursday at St. Mary Catholic Church, in Worthington, officiated by Father James Calahan. Burial of cremains will be in the Worthington Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
