MARCIA AGNES LINSSEN, age 75, of Worthington, died peacefully Wednesday, December 18, 2019, at her home following a courageous battle with cancer. Special thank you to Sanford Hospice for their wonderful care. She was born October 2, 1944, in Luverne, to Robert and Laura (Erickson) Staeffler. She graduated from Ellsworth High School in 1962. Marcia graduated from Mankato State University in 1965 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Education and Spanish. In 1993 she received her Graduate Degree in Business and Education Administration from MSU.
Marcia married Donald Linssen on September 24, 1965, in Luverne. The couple lived in Worthington. Marcia worked as a Business Education/Physical Education Instructor at the Round Lake and Storden Public Schools. She served as a Model Office Instructor & Adjunct Faculty at the Prairie Lakes Cooperative Center. She also served as school administrator at Prairie Lakes Cooperative Center in Worthington. She was the Building Administrator/Customized Training Representative at Southwestern Technical College; and later, she became the Assistant Executive Director for the Worthington HRA and her latest employment, she served as Executive Director for Luverne HRA.
She enjoyed golfing, reading, traveling and spending time with family and friends.
Marcia is survived by her husband, Don Linssen, Worthington; three children, Rhett (Lori) Linssen, Cedar Rapids, IA; John (Keri) Linssen, Cottage Grove; and Stephanie Linssen, Vadnais Heights; seven grandchildren, Christopher (Juliana) Linssen, Laura (Nate) Savage, Nathan Linssen, Katelyn (Ray) Heinz, Cody (McKenzie) Linssen, Victoria Linssen and Emilia Stanzel; two great-grandchildren, Grayson Savage and Harper Linssen; a sister, Linda Boyken, Watertown, SD; an uncle, Horton Staeffler, Gladbrook, IA; and special family friend, Anita Miller.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother; and her brother-in-law, Harry Boyken.
A time of fellowship will be Friday from 4-7 PM at Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington. Memorial Service will be Saturday at 11 AM at Dingmann Funeral Home Worthington, with Pastor Robert Knutson officiating. Burial of cremains will be at Maplewood Cemetery, in Luverne, following the reception.
