MARK ENGELTJES, age 55, of Leota, died Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at the Sanford Luverne Hospice Cottage after a long battle with cancer. He was born April 25, 1964, in Luverne, to Bernie and Betty (Aberson) Engeltjes. Mark graduated from Edgerton Public High School in 1983. He then attended Pipestone Vo-Tech for Agriculture.
Mark farmed, worked at IBP in Luverne, worked for several farmers, and did carpentry.
He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Mark loved being involved in many mission trips. He enjoyed sports, tinkering with machinery, farming, carpentry work and THE FOURTH OF JULY! He deeply loved his nieces & nephews and was known as "Uncle Mark" to many others.
Mark is survived by his mother, Betty Engeltjes, Edgerton; three sisters, Brenda (Doug) Van Peursem, Leota; Laura (Gene) Van Peursem, Edgerton; and Sandra (Jamie) Rieck, Pipestone; six nieces & nephews, Ron (Jodi) Van Peursem, Fargo, ND; Ryan (Jamie) Van Peursem, Hiawatha, KS; Rachelle (Ivan) Vande Griend, Edgerton; Marty (Katie) Van Peursem, Sheldon, IA; Tyler (Becky) Rieck, Pipestone; and Darian (friend, Robel Kelkile) Rieck, Pipestone; and thirteen great-nieces & nephews, Johnathon, Jayden, Annika, Maggie, Autumn, Hope, Emary, Ariel, Shibley, Alyda, Reese, Hadley and Riley, and many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Bernie; and a great-niece, Summer Van Peursem.
Visitation will be from 6-9 pm Thursday at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Funeral will be 10:30 am Friday at the Bethel Reformed Church, in Leota, officiated by Pastors Ryan and Ron Van Peursem. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
