MARVIN LAMBERT BROMMER, age 90, of Luverne, died Sunday, September 1, 2019, at the Rock Rapids Care Center in Rock Rapids, IA. He was born November 25, 1928, to George and Minnie (Broesder) Brommer. He was raised on the family farm by Ellsworth.
Marvin married Verla Heikes on August 21, 1950. To this union two children were born, Douglas & Colleen. The couple made their home on the family farm south of Ellsworth. Verla died in November of 1974.
On December 14, 1977, Marvin married Velma Riemenschneider. The couple lived on the farm until retiring and moving into Luverne in 1992. They lived in Luverne until moving to the Rock Rapids Care Center in January of 2018.
He was a member of the Zion Presbyterian Church, in Ellsworth, until moving to Luverne where he became a member of the First Baptist Church. Marvin loved to garden. He always had a large garden. He enjoyed bird watching; and also enjoyed making plant stands and other things out of wood.
Marvin is survived by his wife of forty one years, Velma Brommer, Rock Rapids, IA; a son, Douglas Brommer, Loveland, CO; a daughter, Colleen Brommer, Harlem, MT; three step children, John (Marcia) Estes, Rock Rapids, IA; Joan (Bruce) Foote, Ellsworth; and Sandra (Richard) Brill, Pueblo, CO; fourteen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 1st wife, Verla; a step daughter, Kathy Dutcher; and a daughter-in-law, Julie Brommer.
Funeral service will be 2 pm Friday, September 13, at the First Baptist Church, in Luverne, officiated by Pastor Walt Moser. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Friday at the Church. Burial will follow the lunch at the Grand Prairie Cemetery in Ellsworth.
