ABRAHAM ROBERT EERNISSE, age 94, of Edgerton, died Tuesday, July 24, 2018, at the Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton. He was born July 1, 1924, on the farm homesteaded by his grandparents in Battle Plain Township, rural Rock County. Robert was the oldest child of Rudolph and Hattie (Menning) Eernisse. He attended country school. At home, Robert helped his father with chores – feeding chickens & pigs and milking cows.
Shortly after his father’s death, Robert and his mother moved to Leota. He became a resident of the Edgebrook Care Center in 1985.
He was a member of the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota. Robert loved the Lord. He enjoyed reading and watching the Minnesota Twins (but never on Sunday).
Robert is survived by his two sisters, Henrietta (Lambert) Klumper, Edgerton; and Mildred (Marinus) Klarenbeek, Steen; and many nieces & nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Kathryn (Bernard) Vander Ziel.
Funeral will be 11 am Friday at the Bethel Reformed Church in Leota officiated by Pastor Reuben Sinnema and Dennis Klumper Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Leota Community Cemetery.
The Leota Burial Association and Dingmann Funeral Home are in charge of arrangements.
