Ruby Jean (Stevens) Janshen

RUBY JEAN JANSHEN, age 89, of Rushmore, died Saturday, October 5, 2019, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Fulda. She was born June 13, 1930, in Sibley, IA, to Kenneth and Ida (Johnson) Stevens.

Ruby married Lester C. Janshen on December 4, 1948. The couple lived in Rushmore. Ruby was a housewife and she worked at the grocery store, in Rushmore, for over five years.

She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Rushmore. Ruby enjoyed camping in Round Lake where she and Lester loved to fish. They went on annual hunting trips to Wyoming. She never shot a gun; she just enjoyed walking through the terrain. She also enjoyed gardening..

Ruby is survived by her four children, Judy Heikes, Ellsworth; Larry (Susan) Janshen, Swannville; Earl (Marlette) Janshen, Barrett; and Jim (Rose) Janshen, Adrian; twenty seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and a sister, Dorothy Kates, Weiser, ID.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Lester, in 2001; a son-in-law, Robert Heikes; granddaughter, Debbie Caddel; great-grandson, Cole Janshen; two brothers, Dick and Oscar Stevens; two sisters, Phyllis Hassebroek; and Mavis Duggins; an infant step great great-granddaughter; and two brothers-in-law, Larry Kates and Oren Hassebroek.

The family wishes to invite everyone to lunch at the Rushmore School, following the burial service.

   Visitation will be from 5-8 pm Monday at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian; and also one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Tuesday. Funeral will be 10:30 am Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Home, in Adrian, officiated by Pastor Paul Snyder. Burial will be in the Sunset Rest Cemetery in Rushmore.
