ALFRED LOU JANSSEN, age 86, of Worthington, died Wednesday, December 8, 2010 at the Minnesota Veteran?s Home in Luverne. He was born on October 13, 1924 in Sibley, IA to parents, Simon and Fannie (Lursen) Janssen. Alfred grew up in Rushmore and attended country school in Little Rock Township. In 1950 he was drafted by the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War from 1950 to 1952. He was stationed at Fort McCoy in Wisconsin and also in Germany. He was united in marriage on March 7, 1956 to Donna Malmquist in Sioux Falls, SD. After their marriage the couple moved South of Adrian and farmed until retiring in 1984. At that time they moved to Worthington. After retiring Alfred and Donna wintered in the Rio Grande Valley, Alamo, TX for twenty years. Alfred was a lifetime member of the VFW and the Men?s Club in Worthington. He enjoyed playing pool and fishing. Alfred is survived by his wife, Donna Janssen, Worthington; four children and their spouses, Randy (Viv) Mueller, Aurora, MN; Dan (Tammy) Janssen, Lake Wilson, MN; Pat (Donna) Janssen, Worthington; and Panda (Mike) Heston, Mankato, MN; daughter-in-law, Cathy Janssen, Mankato, MN; thirteen grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Scott, two brothers and one sister.
