ALICE F. POTHAST, age 93 of Alexandria, formerly of Reading, died Thursday, June 18, 2009, at her home. She was born November 13, 1915, in Rushmore, to Hoat and Hermke (Reents) Engelkes. She attended school in Rushmore. Alice married John Pothast on November 29, 1933, in Worthington. After their marriage, the couple lived in Worthington, Reading & Rock Rapids, IA. Alice worked at Campbell?s Soup Co. and Westbrook in Worthington. The family moved to Alexandria in 1958. She was a member of the Volunteered Widowed Persons Services. Alice enjoyed working in various churches, making crafts, collecting dishes, traveling, flowers, fishing and spending time with family especially her grandchildren. Alice is survived by her two sons, Gary (Gloria) Pothast, Duluth; Jim (Diana) Pothast, Duluth; three grandchildren, Kim (Curt) Davis, Duluth; John (Sheilah-Margaret) Pothast, Soldotna, AK; and Jayme (Matt) Hansen, Davenport, IA; seven great-grandchildren, Brian, Dena, Wesley, Hannah, John-Mark, Hannah & Jacob; and numerous nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John, in 1981; six brothers, Umke, Bill, George, Henry, John & Ben. Blessed Be Her Memory.
