ALPHONSE JOSEPH FISCHER, age 97, of Worthington, died Monday, April 2, 2007, at the Southshore Care Center in Worthington. He was born, December 15, 1909 in Sibley, IA, to parents Joseph and Margaret (Domince) Fischer. Alphonse was united in marriage to Minnie Julia Olson on May 23, 1929 in Iona, MN. After their marriage, the couple lived in Iona. In 1944, the family moved to Reading. Alphonse was a blacksmith and operated the Fischer Repair Shop in Reading for many years. Alphonse and Minnie retired and moved to Wilmont in 1975. He was a member of Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in Wilmont; the Wilmont Bowling League; and Wilmont Community Center Pool Club. He enjoyed watching the Minnesota Twins, playing pool, horseshoes, and cards. Alphonse is survived by his fourteen children and their spouses, Sylvester and Doris Fischer, Slayton, MN; Dorothy and Bob Knuth, Milford, OH; Edward and Kathy Fischer, Plymouth, MN; Shirley and Carl Culp, Indianapolis, IN; Arthur and Ingrid Fischer, Hopkins, MN; John and Karen Fischer, Springfield, MO; Marlene Fischer, Santa Barbara, CA; Arnold and Judy Fischer, Worthington, MN; Diana Kirk, Coeur d? Alene, ID; David and Jan Fischer, Brooklyn Park, MN; Thomas and Linda Fischer, Round Rock, TX; Rita and Ron Douglas, Brooklyn Park; Paul Fischer, Worthington; and Theresa and David Lueck, Eden Prairie; thirty-nine grandchildren; forty-four great-grandchildren; one sister Margaret Biegler, Slayton, MN; one son-in-law, Jess Brooks, Coon Rapids; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Getzel, Worthington;. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Minnie in 2003; son, Randall Fischer, in 1983; a daughter, Cecilia Brooks, in 2000; two brothers, Joesph and Nick Fischer; and two sisters, Anna Watry and Bertha Wacha.
