ANTHONY ?ANTON? THEODORE KLEIN, age 87, of Adrian, died Monday, April 30, 2007, at his home. He was born September 25, 1919, in Alton, IA, to Anthony T. and Mary (Steichen) Klein. He received his education in Alton. Anton married Johanna C. Vortherms on February 4, 1943, in Granville, IA. After their marriage, the couple farmed on the family farm near Alton, IA. They moved to rural Reading in 1967, where they continued farming. After Johanna died on May 10, 1990, Anton continued to live on the farm until February of 2001 when he moved to Adrian. He was a member of St. Adrian Catholic Church; and a former member of the St. Mary Church Board in Alton, IA. He enjoyed playing cards, especially pinochle, reading and the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team. Anton is survived by his nine children and their spouses, Dennis & Julie Klein, Iona; Sr. Charlotte Klein, Chicago; Norman & Joanne Klein, Fulda; Steve & Mavis Klein, Waseca; Linda Pribyl, Jackson; Karen & Roy Honermann, Adrian; Jannet & Lonny Schmidt, Glencoe; Marlene & Rodney Reisdorfer, Alexander, IA; and Harlan & P.J. Klein, Reading; twenty three grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald Klein, Granville, IA; and George (Mary Jane) Klein, Belgium, WI; a sister, Agnes Vonderhaar, Granville, IA; and a brother-in-law, Odilo Ahlers, Mapleton, IA. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Johanna; a grandchild, Mary Klein; and three sisters, Ann Marie Budden, Esther Ahlers & Marion Klein.
