ARDELL MARION BASSETT, age 83, of Worthington, died Sunday, January 22, 2012 at Crossroads Care Center in Worthington.  She was born on August 12, 1928 in Sanborn, MN, to Herman and Mary (Radtke) Dammann.  After graduating from Sanborn High School in 1946, Ardell worked as a secretary in Windom, MN and later at the Sanborn Café and grocery store.
On August 23, 1949, Ardell was united in marriage to Colbert (Corky) Bassett in Sanborn, MN where they lived for several years before moving to Rushmore, MN, where together they purchased and owned a grocery store and locker plant.  Ardell worked with her husband in their business for several years until she retired in 1990.  Ardell also drove school bus for the Rushmore and Worthington School District's for 34 years and worked part-time at Prairie View Golf Course in Worthington.  Ardell enjoyed many years of bowling and golfing.  She also loved making cookies for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and spending time in her flower garden.  After moving to Worthington in 2008, one of her favorite things was going to the casino on Tuesday with friends.
Ardell was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington, the American Legion Auxiliary and the Senior Citizen's Center.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 63 years, Corky Bassett, Worthington, children, Steve (Rita) Bassett, Worthington, Julie (Bruce) Wendling, Beresford, SD; five grandchildren;  Lisa (Todd) Paulson, Joshua (Tiffany) Wendling, Ryan Wendling, Troy (Angie) Bassett and Brent (Rachel) Bassett three great-grandchildren;  Hunter, Kaiden and Addison Paulson, four brothers, Stanley (Marcy) Dammann, Lamberton, Glenn (Arlene) Dammann, Gerald Dammann, Eldon (Elna) Dammann, all of Sanborn; one sister Melva Ochs, Faribault
Ardell was preceded in death by her parents.
Visitation will be Friday from 5PM to 8PM with a prayer service to follow at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington.  A memorial mass will be held Saturday at 9:00 AM at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington with Father Jim Callahan officiating. A private burial will be at a later date at Sanborn Cemetery.
