Ardis M. Bakkene, age 78, of Fulda, formerly of Worthington, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 19, 2012 at her home in Fulda. She was born June 2, 1933 in Pipestone, MN; to parents Carl and Bertha (Herdina) Johannsen.  She was the oldest of four children.
She attended Canton, SD schools and graduated from High School in 1951.
Ardis was united in marriage to Roger Bakkene on August 28, 1953 in Robbinsdale, MN. After marriage the couple moved from Minneapolis to Pipestone in 1954 and then to Worthington in 1960.
Ardis worked with Roger in the income tax business in the late '60's and '70's. She retired and they purchased a cabin on Lake Shetek in 1978. She became a common sight on the water fishing for walleye. She also loved all flowers especially her perennials. Through the years, she spent many hours tending to her flower gardens, and her doll collection as well.
Ardis was a devoted wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. Those left to cherish her memories are her husband of 58 years, Roger, Fulda; children, Douglas (Linda) Bakkene, Worthington; Darci (Gary) Walters, Worthington and Drew (Judy) Bakkene, Sioux Falls, SD; granddaughter, Jessica (Cory) Docken, Minneapolis and grandson Trent Walters, Worthington; great-granddaughters, Emma and Abby Docken, Minneapolis; sisters, Jo Ann (Dave) Burroughs, Sunny Vale, TX;  Kathy Woelber, Pipestone and sister-in-law Susan Johannsen, Hills, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother Dale Johannsen, Pipestone.
Visitation will be from 5-7 pm Wednesday, at the Dingmann Funeral Home in Worthington; and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. The memorial service will be at 10:30 am Thursday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, in Worthington, officiated by Rev. Joe Behnke. A private family burial of cremains will be at a later date.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church.
